Amazingly Outspokin

Val and Stan Tavanese did things a little different for their second Outspokin location. The couple kept women in mind when decorating and designing the store.

On Sunday, a group of the Tampa Bay Bloggers (Caroline, Christie O. and Denise), were invited to check out the new cycling store prior to the grand opening on March 16.

I haven't been to a whole lot of bicycle shops, but I can honestly say that I could feel the difference from the minute I walked into this store. The colors of the store are inviting. And if this isn't enough right at the entrance there are the cutest girly cycling outfits I have ever seen.

Love the design of the store.
Most cycling stores cater to men, I hate to say it - us ladies get lost in the shuffle. But at the Outspokin in South Tampa, there was plenty to look at. This isn't to say the entire store is for women, there was plenty of manly things, but it didn't seem like just a "man store."

I was surprised by Celeste. :) If you look behind her you'll see all the girly clothing. I think Giant needs a model -> Me!!

Celeste work at Outspokin for fun. You might remember her from my trip with Beth to Augusta.  She is pretty awesome.
When we arrived to the meetup, we had a busy agenda. We would head out for a ride and then a short run. My group rode 12-miles and then ran for about 1-mile. This was my first time riding my bicycle on Bayshore, which was pretty crazy. We even rode on the street over the Davis Island bridge. Scary!

When we returned, Christie arranged for us to have pizza, which was delicious. And then we were able to tour the store.  The store is amazing. It has a play area for children (a plus for us moms), has a huge women's selection, has a bicycle repair area, a workout area, showers and there is a bicycle fitting section.

The bicycle fitting section is neat. Outspokin uses the Retul 3D motion capture fitting system. This is the equivalent of getting a gait analysis for runners, basically it analyzes you and fits you perfectly for a bicycle. It provides recommendation on which bicycles would work for you based on all your measurements.

The Retul program is SO neat!
The store will have a grand opening celebration on March 6. If you are in the area you don't want to miss it.

Love my goodie bag from the event. I am looking forward to trying Nuun out for the first time.
What do you wish cycling store would have more of?

  1. Riding on BayShore is an amazing experience. I absolutely love it. I live near there and unfortunately I don't get around to it more often but whenever I drive somewhere, I make sure to at least drive down Bayshore even if I can't bike it.

    1. I agree. It is beautiful. I wish I lived closer. I would at least run there more often. The cycling was a bit scary, but only because I am not used to riding on the roads. Thanks for commenting!

  2. Awesome to hear this store had more things catering to women than many others. I'm not a big cycler and actually haven't ridden in a while but this sounds like a great place to get all things cycling. Bayshore is beautiful and so many people ride their bikes and run there!
